Project consisted of demolition of old barns and out buildings. Asara cleared the land for the new building site. No topsoil was hauled off site but, was instead stripped from building envelope and spread on another section of the property, creating a lovely pasture for cattle to graze in. Asara did a full topographical survey of the site and calculated the slab height to achieve a net zero balance once cut and fill was complete. The building site being in close proximity to a tributary of the sensitive salmon river protected area had detailed erosion and sediment control plan with daily monitoring. Detail excavation was done through the winter months, careful planning was necessary to avoid extra cost working with silty material through the wet season. The Large detention pond was set at the edge of the fisheries boundaries and was monitored very closely through the construction, which included the installation of a large flow control manhole with a discharge to the wet land area.
The new 130,000 Sq Ft building is state of the art and the second largest single build mushroom growing and packing facility in Western Canada.
